CSU| LAW Hall of Fame Ceremony: Reflecting on 2023

Under the leadership of Dean Lee Fisher, the CSU|Law Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to honor the outstanding contributions to the success and prestige of our law school. Many joined in celebrating distinguished alumni, community leaders with strong ties to our law school, former deans, faculty, and staff.

Since its inception, the Hall of Fame Ceremony has served as a unique opportunity for networking and relationship-building. I proudly served as a Student Ambassador for this ceremony and was privileged to engage in meaningful conversations and foster connections with legal professionals, alumni, and students, that will prove invaluable in the years to come. This event bridges generations of legal minds, uniting them in a shared commitment to justice and the rule of law.

This year, CSU recognized 26 outstanding inductees and 1 “Leader on the Rise”, who are a part of our rich alumni history, dating back 125 years. The Leader on the Rise award is a unique award given to a recent graduate who has demonstrated extraordinary community leadership and has given back to our school with their time, talent, and/or treasure.

The ceremony included remarks from 2023 Hall of Fame inductees the Honorable Judge Clifton Newman ‘76, and Judge Pat Blackmon75, who spoke movingly about the positive impact that the Legal Careers Opportunity Program had on their careers. The groundbreaking CSU|LAW LCOP program created more than 50 years ago, is designed for promising students whose academic ability and potential are not sufficiently reflected by their test scores.

In looking toward the 2024 ceremony, the echoes of this remarkable evening will undoubtedly linger in the hearts and minds of all who attended. Those honored have epitomized the phrase, “Learn Law, Live Justice” and the ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the collective dedication and excellence that defines CSU|Law.
